The Company at the beginning
Nigel Howat, Founder Nigel was born in Liverpool, England and arrived in the U.S. via Germany. Prior to emigrating to the U.S. Nigel and his partners worked in East Germany, a country run-down after years of neglect and in dire need of re-building. Nigel and his company spent more than 10 years paving roads, gas stations, apartment complexes, parking lots and recreational areas.
An avid nature lover, Nigel fell in love with the beautiful surroundings of Marin County, decided to settle here and immediately set out to enhance the look of homes in the area. In 1999, when he established The European Paving Company, now The Legacy Paver Group, Nigel trained a team of installers as he was trained back in Europe. This process has been refined over the years, and the company employs some of the best installers, designers and project managers in the industry.
The Company Today Still A Family Affair
Hayley Johnson, Owner | Chief Designer
After working in Hi-Tech for more than 10 years, Nigel's daughter, Hayley, joined the company in early 2001. She quickly learned the ropes, and became a tough Project Manager, developing our clean & professional work-site code, managing budgets and schedules, ensuring that all our projects come in on time and with no additional costs.
Hayley has a strong business background, and a fondness and talent for all things art and design. She has remodeled several homes and loves to sketch and paint. She immediately recognized the incredible opportunity for design with pavers, and became an expert in color-blending, custom inlays and designs.
